Summary
The Vice President serves as the Global Electronics Association’s head of U.S. Government Relations. This is a leadership role with responsibility for coordinating the Association’s U.S. policy strategy, managing day-to-day operations, overseeing PAC and political engagement, and cultivating relationships with both member companies and policymakers. Ideal candidates will bring background as a campaign manager, Hill Chief of Staff, or significant experience leading industry-backed issue campaigns with a reputation for execution, discretion, and leadership in high-stakes policy environments. This position reports to the Vice President, Global Advocacy, and Intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Association’s senior-most U.S. government relations staffer, setting priorities and ensuring consistent execution of advocacy strategy.
Lead office operations, budget tracking, and internal coordination for GR events, compliance, and reporting.
Build and maintain relationships with senior officials on Capitol Hill and within the Executive Branch.
Serve as a liaison to member companies and drive engagement in the Association’s public policy agenda.
Lead Association’s political program, overseeing PAC growth, donor engagement, event planning, and compliance.
Manage and mentor GR staff and coordinate cross-functional support with Association’s standards, education, and technical departments.
Catalyze Industry Support
- Oversee the work of the North American Government Relations Committee, including by recruiting, leading, and inspiring active participation.
- Develop in coordination with GR committee members a policy agenda backed by the GR committee.
- Schedule, plan, and support GR committee meetings
- Establish policy subcommittees, working groups, or other mechanisms to catalyze industry input, support, and action.
- Maintain solid working relationships with member company representatives.
- Serve as a key contributor to the successful development of Association member and executive events, with specific responsibility for government relations programming.
- Maintain relationships with industry peers and help manage Association’s participation in North American coalitions.
Manage and Grow the Global Electronics Association Political Action Committee (PAC)
- Develop and implement strategic PAC engagement plan.
- Conduct development efforts with members and staff to grow the Association’s PAC.
- Oversee outside counsel to manage PAC finances and ensure FEC filings and reports submitted accurately and on schedule.
Lead U.S. Government Relations Team (including external consultants)
- Manage direct reports (~3) and all consultants to achieve strategic goals.
- Develop in coordination with GR committee members a policy agenda backed by the GR committee.
Administrative Operations
- Develop, plan, and execute annual USGR budget.
- Develop requirements for tools, subscriptions, and consultant services.
- Manage the performance of external contracts.
- Monitor and proactively manage federal lobbying compliance and reporting requirements related but not limited to the Lobbying Disclosure Act and the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act.
Requirements
10+ years of experience in government, campaigns, or trade association advocacy.
Must have experience working in/with the Electronics Manufacturing industry.
Previous experience as a Chief of Staff, LD, or Campaign Manager strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage cross-cutting priorities, and drive measurable outcomes.
Experience with PAC operations and compliance.
Exceptional political acumen with proven experience identifying political opportunities and executing political campaigns.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
At least three years of work experience in electronics or related field in design.
Must be technically minded and focused.
At least one year of project management related experience.
Standards Development experience highly preferred.
Experience working with internal and external teams; ability to collaborate and partner effectively.
Strong verbal and written communications skills, and able to communicate with upper management.
Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder Engagement & Ecosystem Building
Build and deepen relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies (e.g., METI), industry organizations (e.g., JEITA), major companies, and technology leaders.
Represent the Global Electronics Association in high-level dialogues with industry and public-sector leaders.
Lead or facilitate working groups, industry committees, and thought-leadership events across critical domains (standards, technology, policy, etc.).
Strategic Development & Market Growth
Develop and execute localized strategies to expand membership, revenue, and program adoption (standards, certification, workforce training, etc.).
Identify emerging market segments and align local initiatives with the Association’s global roadmap.
Drive advocacy and industry intelligence initiatives to inform policy and business decisions.
Operations, Team Leadership & Program Delivery
Serve as P&L owner for the Global Electronics Association’s Japan office; manage annual budget, reporting, and forecasting.
Localize and operationalize the Association’s global programs for the Japanese market.
Lead and mentor a small high-performing team, building a mission-driven, collaborative culture.
Partner with global and regional teams (marketing, public affairs, technical programs) to ensure cohesive execution.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in electronics/high-tech industries.
5+ years in senior roles (e.g., Country Manager, General Manager, or Regional Director) with proven success in business development and P&L leadership.
Experience in B2B technology, standards organizations, or trade associations is a strong advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Bilingual fluency: Native-level Japanese and professional English.
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and market insight.
Stakeholder-savvy with an extensive network in Japan’s electronics and public sectors.
Strong understanding of standards development, supply chain dynamics, and industry policy.

The Global Electronics Association is seeking a Technical Programs Manager to independently lead and deliver technical initiatives in Taiwan.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, ideal for a highly self-motivated professional who enjoys end-to-end ownership of projects. You will spend approximately 60% of your time on training and technical services, and 40% on standards-related work — making this an opportunity to directly influence Taiwan’s electronics manufacturing industry while contributing to global standards development.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Technical Services (Approx. 60%)
Deliver IPC certification programs (CIT/CIS) as a Master IPC Trainer (MIT) with high-quality, standards-compliant instruction.
Localize and adapt training materials, ensuring consistency with global standards.
Conduct technical audits, prepare detailed reports, and recommend improvement actions.
Provide technical consulting for clients.
Support client visits with hands-on technical expertise.
Participate in technical forums, exhibitions to expand industry expertise and networks.
Standards Development & Localization (Approx. 40%)
Act as liaison to IPC standards development and revision task groups.
Organize and facilitate task group meetings; track assignments, consolidate input, and monitor progress.
Manage translation, localization, and publication of IPC standards with accuracy and timeliness.
Advocate for IPC standards adoption within Taiwan’s electronics ecosystem.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering or related field.
10+ years in PCB, PCBA, or related electronics manufacturing sectors.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and project management.
Experience in standards development or technical training preferred.
Fluent in Chinese and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects from start to finish.
Skilled in working with cross-functional and multicultural teams without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Technical Expertise:
Familiarity with IPC standards such as IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-6012, IPC-7711/21.
CIT certification preferred.
Prior publications or technical contributions are a plus.
Domestic travel approx. 20% (training, audits, events).
Occasional international travel for HQ meetings or industry events.
