Europe is one of the world’s three largest markets for AI data centres. However, most of the value created by that demand accrues to companies and supply chains outside of the EU. Today, the Global Electronics Association released From Chips to Systems: Building an End-to-End EU Strategy for Data Centre, Cloud Infrastructure and AI, a joint report with DECISION Études & Conseil that quantifies that gap, layer by layer, and offers a practical policy roadmap to close it.

IPC appreciated the opportunity to participate in a January 16, 2024 workshop organized by the European Commission to collect feedback on needs, challenges, and drivers for advanced materials. At the workshop, IPC highlighted the importance of advanced materials for electronics manufacturing and underlined the need for a comprehensive silicon-to-systems approach.

IPC is monitoring a proposal recently published by the European Commission (EC) that would prohibit products in the European Union market made with forced labour. The current proposed draft would ban both imported goods and goods made in the EU with forced labour.
