To commemorate IPC India’s decade of service to the electronics manufacturing industry, the IPC India team will hold skills challenge competitions and member networking events starting this November across different parts of the country. Winners of regional competitions will gather in Bengaluru and New Delhi in August 2022 to compete in PCB design, hand soldering and wire harness assembly championships.  

The second stop on IPC’s E-Textiles 2021 Virtual World Tour will be Philadelphia, Pa. on October 27, 2021. The IPC E-Textiles 2021 Virtual World Tour is a series of educational events bringing the latest e-textiles technologies and virtual demonstrations from innovators around the world -- all at no cost to registrants.

Matt Kelly, IPC's chief technologist, along with other industry experts, will present at "Heading Towards Industry 4.0" virtual conference panel on Friday, October 15 at 8:00 am to 9:00 CT. Matt will cover Industry 4.0 implementation and overcoming barriers and challenges to implementation.  

IPC APEX EXPO 2022 will feature New York Times Columnist, Emmy-Winning CBS Sunday Morning Contributor & NOVA Host David Pogue. During his keynote on January 25, Pogue will present, “Disruptive Tech: How it Will Affect Your Business and What’s Coming by 2026.”

Registration is now open for the 2022 WHMA 29th Annual Wire Harness Conference. Geared to wire harness manufacturers, their suppliers and customers, the event will take place in person, February 15-17, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa.

IPC announces a new IPC Design Competition, inviting printed circuit board designers to compete to become the IPC Design Champion of 2022. The IPC Design Competition is composed of two heats – a virtual preliminary heat and an in-person layout final for the three top contestants on January 25, 2022 at IPC APEX EXPO in San Diego, Calif.   

In cooperation with the Instrutec tradeshow in Tallin, Estonia, IPC re-launched its popular Hand Soldering Competition, hosting skilled competitors on September 8-10 who demonstrated their expertise in hand soldering while competing for cash prizes. The first hand soldering held in-person since 2019, Instrutec welcomed 26 hand soldering experts representing eight electronics companies.                            

In cooperation with 2021 Global Industrie, IPC re-launched its popular Hand Soldering Competition, hosting skilled competitors on September 6-9, who demonstrated their expertise in hand soldering while competing for cash prizes. The first in-person trade show held in France since the onset of the COVID pandemic, Global Industrie welcomed 36 hand soldering experts representing 18 electronics companies.     

A new awards ceremony, the Golden Gnome Awards, was launched at IPC SummerCom 2021. The Golden Gnomes, inspired by IPC’s fictional TechNet gnomes Clumpy and Kloumpios, will occur annually at IPC SummerCom.

IPC presented Committee Leadership, Special Recognition and Distinguished Committee Service Awards on August 30 at IPC’s SummerCom Standards Development Committee Meetings in Milwaukee, Wis. The awards were presented to individuals who made significant contributions to IPC and the industry by lending their time and expertise in the development of electronics manufacturing standards.
