Industry Continues to Face High Costs; Data Suggests Mixed Cost Pressures

According to IPC’s November Sentiment of the Global Electronics Manufacturing Supply Chain report, 80% of electronics manufacturers are experiencing rising material costs, while 77% indicate that labor costs are on the rise. At the same time, ease of recruitment, profit margins, and inventory from suppliers are presently declining.

IPC/WHMA-A-620E, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies prescribes practices and requirements for the manufacturing of cable, wire, and harness assemblies, and describes materials, methods, tests, and acceptability criteria for producing crimped, mechanically secured, and soldered interconnections, and the related assembly activities associated with cable and harness assemblies.                

IPC Announces Paige Fiet as First IPC Board of Directors Student Liaison

For the first time, the IPC Board of Directors will include an IPC student member with a full voting board seat, in response to increased student member involvement in IPC and the potential for student members, as the emerging workforce, to influence workforce development. Paige Fiet, president of the IPC Student Chapter at Michigan Technological University, was elected as the first IPC Board of Directors Student Member Liaison. The IPC Education Foundation (IPCEF) developed the nomination/election process with IPC Student Chapter advisors and every IPC Student Chapter member was eligible to vote.

COVID-19, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, soaring global inflation rates and recession fears were major contributors to the cloud of uncertainty in 2022 and also to slower global economic growth, per IPC’s December Economic Outlook report.
