Three IPC volunteers who have fostered a collaborative spirit, made significant contributions to standards development, and have consistently demonstrated a commitment to global standardization efforts, were presented with Dieter Bergman IPC Fellowship awards at IPC APEX EXPO 2022. Bev Christian, Doug Pauls, and Jose Servin were chosen as award recipients because they embody the work ethic and spirit of the late Dieter Bergman, a pioneer and industry icon.

From revolutionary innovations displayed on the show floor to expert insights conveyed in technical conference sessions, professional development courses and standards development committee meetings, IPC APEX EXPO 2022 provided the education and networking connections that helped 3,647 visitors address today’s business challenges and prepare for their factories of future.          

IPC presented its highest corporate honors to two IPC member companies, Apple Inc., and MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions during the IPC Annual Meeting/Awards Ceremony at IPC APEX EXPO 2022. The Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award was presented to MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, and the Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award was presented to Apple, Inc.                

In recognition and acknowledgment of his extraordinary contributions to IPC and the electronics industry, Joe O’Neil, OAA Ventures, was presented with the IPC Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame Award at IPC APEX EXPO on Tuesday, January 25. IPC’s most prestigious award, the Hall of Fame is given to individuals who have provided exceptional service and advancement to IPC and the electronics industry.

The best technical conference papers of IPC APEX EXPO 2022 have been selected. Voted on by members of the IPC APEX EXPO 2022 Technical Program Committee (TPC), the paper authors will be recognized during show opening remarks on Tuesday, January 25.

New and experienced managers will gather at the EMS Leadership Summit at IPC APEX EXPO on January 24, 2022, to discuss strategies for advancing the industry and enhancing leadership skills.

Jackie Mattox, founder, president and CEO of Women in Electronics (a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional and personal development of women in the electronics industry), will provide they keynote during the Women in Electronics Reception at IPC APEX EXPO on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

In cooperation with productronica 2021, IPC hosted the popular Hand Soldering Competition (HSC), on November 16-19. Skilled competitors demonstrated their expertise in hand soldering while competing for cash prizes. The first-in-person trade show held in Germany since the onset of the COVID pandemic, IPC and productronica welcomed 21 hand soldering experts representing 14 electronics companies.                

IPC invites researchers, technical experts and industry leaders to submit abstracts for poster presentations at IPC APEX EXPO 2022.

IPC APEX EXPO 2022 attendees can meet with electronics industry innovators and connect with peers all in one place at the San Diego Convention Center, January 22–27, 2022.

To commemorate IPC India’s decade of service to the electronics manufacturing industry, the IPC India team will hold skills challenge competitions and member networking events starting this November across different parts of the country. Winners of regional competitions will gather in Bengaluru and New Delhi in August 2022 to compete in PCB design, hand soldering and wire harness assembly championships.  

The second stop on IPC’s E-Textiles 2021 Virtual World Tour will be Philadelphia, Pa. on October 27, 2021. The IPC E-Textiles 2021 Virtual World Tour is a series of educational events bringing the latest e-textiles technologies and virtual demonstrations from innovators around the world -- all at no cost to registrants.

IPC APEX EXPO 2022 will feature New York Times Columnist, Emmy-Winning CBS Sunday Morning Contributor & NOVA Host David Pogue. During his keynote on January 25, Pogue will present, “Disruptive Tech: How it Will Affect Your Business and What’s Coming by 2026.”

Registration is now open for the 2022 WHMA 29th Annual Wire Harness Conference. Geared to wire harness manufacturers, their suppliers and customers, the event will take place in person, February 15-17, 2022 in Tucson, Arizona at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa.

IPC announces a new IPC Design Competition, inviting printed circuit board designers to compete to become the IPC Design Champion of 2022. The IPC Design Competition is composed of two heats – a virtual preliminary heat and an in-person layout final for the three top contestants on January 25, 2022 at IPC APEX EXPO in San Diego, Calif.   

In cooperation with the Instrutec tradeshow in Tallin, Estonia, IPC re-launched its popular Hand Soldering Competition, hosting skilled competitors on September 8-10 who demonstrated their expertise in hand soldering while competing for cash prizes. The first hand soldering held in-person since 2019, Instrutec welcomed 26 hand soldering experts representing eight electronics companies.
